Procrastination Definition

The official Procrastination
Definition is “the act of procrastinating;
putting off or delaying or deferring an action to a later
time” however to really understand what
procrastination is, you will need to understand
the different causes of procrastination.
Here are the 3 main causes of
procrastination:

Fear of Failure – happens when
you a person is so afraid to fail at a certain
task, he literally can’t start taking the
first step toward accomplishing it. Think
about it – did you ever have to study for a
very important exam, and because it was so
important – you just couldn’t bring yourself
to read the materials? Maybe you found
something else to do instead, like thinking
“what will happen if I do well” or “what will
happen if I fail”. So instead of DOING you
were just DREAMING.

Perfectionism – this doesn’t
happen to all of us, but only to the
perfectionists among us. Are you a
perfectionist? If you answered “yes” this
means that there are 2 different
possibilities. If you see your perfectionism
as a problem – you would be procrastinate more
then the average person, however if you don’t
see it as a problem – you are likely to
procrastinate less!

Feeling overwhelmed – When the
amount of work is so large and there are many
different tasks in front of you, is it often
hard to most of the people to get around and
be productive about your work. Simply put
“there is so much work to do that I don’t know
where to start” – sounds familiar? Don’t
worry, you are not alone – this happens to
almost all of us before we learn time
management skills.
